We love food!

food

It’s not about fancy presentation or wacky techniques. We buy well. Cook simply. And nothing goes on the plate if it doesn’t taste fab.

We love drink!

Wine
Wine by the glass is a big thing for us. We like wine. But pub wine is often terrible. Thankfully this is changing in recent years! We buy from suppliers we trust. And are careful to offer a variety of good wines at a price that keeps you quaffing!

Beers
We offer a choice of lagers with little bit of interest. Real ales are a big deal for us. We love the crafted nature and the effort it takes to get the pint up to perfect condition every time. You’ll always find 4 different ales. And we keep changing them. We buy from Malvern Hills Brewery, who constantly impress with the taste and quality. Purity keep supplying us with their well-balanced range. And filling the gaps we use Brakspear, Wychwood, Jennings, Marstons and a few others

Soft Drinks & Spirits
Just because you’re driving doesn’t mean you got to stick to Coke! We’ve got some tempting soft drinks from Fentimens and Belvoir. The spirits we use cover all the bases. But where possible we like something with a bit of a story. Such as our house gin. ‘Pullings of Hereford’ started in 1813. Still producing a delicious, smooth G for your T!

Coffee
We all need that caffeine hit in the morning. And KIMBO gives it to use with a rich, smooth flavour. Espresso, Latte, Cappuccino? .... get any of them ‘to go’ too!

Slow-Roast Sunday

Join us on Sunday for a relaxing lunch. Read the papers, enjoy our great range of wines and real ales, and choose from our delicious Sunday Set Menu, served alongside our Lunch & Dinner Menu from 12-4pm.

the business

Brothers Ben and Oli Coates bought The Green Man pub in Worcester during September 2007. Ben was the chef, with experience in the UK and Australia, and Oli, the shrewd accountant. So between them the bases were covered to start their own pub. Name was changed to The Marwood - Marwood being a name carried through generations of the Coates family.

The pub quickly developed a reputation for great food, friendly service, and a relaxed atmosphere. And that reputation has grown over the years with Ben as Head Chef, driving the business forward by delivering great quality food.

In early 2010 the search was on for a second site. This was found in Birmingham’s Jewellery Quarter. A fabulous re-development of a former manufacturing workshop. With great space and incredible potential. So the lease was signed. Dan Auty joined the company to develop the new site. And The Drop Forge was opened in November 2010.
